The Heritage of Green Hills Draws Hundreds of Visitors to Welcome Center Grand Opening

The Heritage of Green Hills Retirement Community welcomed more than 250 people to the October 12 Grand Opening of its new Welcome Center and model apartment. The retirement community, currently under development in Cumru Township, will become Berks County's largest, with more than 500 residences and an array of modern amenities.

Berks County officials, business leaders, seniors, and other gathered for a 3:30 p.m. ribbon cutting, courtesy of the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The festivities continued throughout the afternoon and early evening with site tours, delicious hors d'oeuvres and entertainment by Grammy-winning guitarist David Cullen.

"We were overwhelmed by the response from the community," said Jeanene Palmer, director of marketing for The Heritage at Green Hills. "We created the Welcome Center specifically so we could share our vision with families in our area, and we were pleased to have so many of them join us when we opened our doors."

Guests also got a glimpse of the future, exploring a full-scale, fully furnished model apartment. They also viewed large-scale renderings of the completed community, site plans, and more.

The event included a live broadcast by WEEU radio's Jo Painter, who shared several of the community's unique attributes with listeners. Throughout the day, The Heritage of Green Hills management team fielded questions from dozen of prospective residents.

For the past several months, active adults in Berks and the surrounding counties have shown strong interest in the Heritage of Green Hills, which has already accepted more than 90 depositors - a number that grows each week.

"We're gratified that the active retirees in this region can share our vision for what a retirement community can and should be," said Lawrence B. Murphy, CEO of American Heritage Communities, the company developing The Heritage of Green Hills.

"We've found that retirees from this region want to stay close to their roots, but they're also ready for something new and different. That's why we've planned every aspect of The Heritage of Green Hills to help all of our residents open a new chapter in their lives."

When completed, the gated community will offer hiking trails, exercise facilities, an indoor swimming pool, outdoor amphitheater, and other amenities geared toward today's more active retirement population. It will also include two Village Centers that will offer multiple dining venues, spaces for social gatherings, and convenient on-campus services. The completed community will house more than 500 independent living apartments and villas, along with assisted living, nursing care, and more.

In addition to exceptional design, The Heritage of Green Hills has introduced Berks County to new approaches to retirement living. The community offers a 100% refundable entrance fee program aimed at safeguarding family assets - the only program of its kind in Berks County. And Heritage has also created Well By Design, an exclusive, holistic program designed to help each resident find his or her personal path to wellness.

The Grand Opening of The Heritage of Green Hills Welcome Center was the first of many planned events, including healthy holiday cooking classes in early November, a Holiday Festival of the Arts December 9, and regular luncheons during 2007.
